FAQ - Walking Tour
What Should I Wear?
Please check the forecast and dress accordingly. Layers are usually the key to comfort! Wear loose fitting clothing when possible and comfortable shoes. Some streets are uneven and paved with brick or cobblestone so shoes with stability support will be the most comfortable. An umbrella or poncho is a good idea just in case.
Where Should I Park?
THE CLASSIC TOUR: We start at Dobra Tea located at 78 N Lexington Ave. The closest parking garages are the Civic Center and Rankin Ave Garages located on the corners of Rankin Ave and W Walnut Street. Please be sure to allow extra time for parking. The tour will start on time.
Metered on-street parking is available but difficult to find and generally only for the short term only (2 hours or less). These spaces are free after 6pm M-Sat and all day Sunday.
How Long is the Tour?
From start to finish, the tour lasts approximately 2 hours, 3 hours with the addition of a salt therapy session.
How Much Walking is Involved?
Asheville is a mountain town with hills galore. The walking portion of the tour will be at a gentle pace with frequent stops. Total distance is approximately 1.5 miles.
Is Gratuity Included?
Gratuity for your tour guide is greatly appreciated but never compulsory. We suggest $5/person as a baseline but this decision is personal and should be based on the level of service you feel you received.
Gratuity for service providers at the locations we visit is included in your tour price.
Should I Purchase Tickets in Advance?
Yes, please. We require at least 24 hours’ notice and suggest booking even further in advance to ensure you can reserve the day and time that works best for you. Keep in mind that tours fill especially quickly in the busy months of May-October.
Reservations are accepted via our website or by phone.
What About Weather?
The tours are held rain or shine. Please check the weather forecast and dress appropriately. Note that tickets are non-refundable.
What is Your Cancellation Policy:
Tickets are non-refundable. You may reschedule under the following conditions:
- 48 hour notice is required
- Rescheduling options are limited and based on availability
- Your new tour date must be within a week of your originally scheduled tour
If AWT needs to cancel a tour for any reason, we will reschedule you or refund your purchase amount in full.
Are Pets Allowed?
Asheville loves pets and so do we. However, for the comfort of all tour guests and because we visit locales where pets are not allowed, only service animals will be allowed on tour.
Are Children Allowed?
We love little ones and our classic tours are appropriate for children 12+. Please note, however, that children are NOT allowed in the Salt Cave during their regular sessions. It is possible to book a private session in the cave for an additional cost. In the case of a private session, there is no age limit.
If you would like to experience Asheville from a wellness perspective with younger children, we suggest booking a private tour that can be customized according to your family’s needs. Please contact us for availability.
Do You Offer Private Tours?
We do! Private tours are available for parties of 4+. Please contact us for availability.
